FTW? Friday is much like the usual daily hacks, mods, or tech tips I write about on The Daily Hack. But FTW? Friday has a little twist! You may have noticed the question (?) mark after the FTW, well that's because you guys will have the opportunity to vote on whether the hack, mod or tech tip is FTW or if it's a FAIL. This week's FTW? Friday candidate is:

Star Trek Communicator Hack

Star Trek Communicator From A Discarded Mouse

Masynmachien has posted an interesting tutorial on how to transform an old computer mouse into a Star Trek (Original Series) communicator with chirp and talk back functionality. By combining an old computer mouse as the main body of the communicator, a paper hole pattern board (as used for circuit boards) as the flip antenna/lid, a cheap greeting card sound recording module for the chirp/"response from the enterprise" sounds, and a few other odds and ends, Masynmachien created a pretty impressive Star Trek communicator for his nine year old daughter. I think this hack is pretty flipping cool, but FTW? Friday isn't about my opinions, it's yours. So let us know what you think by voting below! But, before you do, watch the following video of the Star Trek communicator hack in action:
